A continuing class, Theatre Arts is a year-long commitment to participate in the productions of The Nesbians, the performing arm of SMCS Theatre Arts. Students from ninth to twelfth grades are included in this elective class and are scheduled to preform the classic tale of Anne of Green Gables for this year’s Dinner Theatre on Friday, November 4th and Dessert Theatre on Saturday, November 5th. The annual spring performance is set for April and promises to be a great send off to our new campus. Theatre Arts students have the opportunity to learn group dynamics, how to manage time, how to work through production preparation, and how to speak in front of an audience. Past productions have included A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Meet Me in St. Louis, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, The Baseball Show, Our Town, and You Can’t Take It With You. Learning to be their self while portraying someone else affords each student the opportunity to grow and develop skills for use not only today but for years to come in the career they pursue. Theatre Arts encourages, strengthens bonds, and creates a family atmosphere of togetherness all while having fun in front of others.
