Children are a heritage from the LORD... --Psalm 127:3

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,

coming down from the Father of lights, with whom

there is no variation or shadow due to change."

James 1:17

Shades Mountain Christian School offers several classes in Visual Arts. The Art classes are designed to develop creativity and inspire students' artistic expression through experiencing the world God created. In elementary classes,  the students explore art through themes that include animals, famous artists, color, landscapes, absrtact and realisitic art. Secondary classes focus on developing their artistic talents. Lessons facilitate appropriate vocabulary, techniques, and styles of art. Students create projects that allow them to express themselves through drawing, painting, and sculpting. In the spring, students' artwork is displayed in our annual SMCS Spring Art Show.

In photography class, students begin exploring digital photography. They will learn about some of the early history of photography and some basics on how cameras work. In class, students learn about basic equipment needed for photography and principles as they relate to composition, space, exposure, light and color. Students will learn how to format and edit pictures. Here at SMCS, our students will learn how to tell a story through pictures.
